I’m planning another trip to the beautiful county of Cumbria very soon so I thought I’d post a shot I did a couple of years ago of Rutter Force near the historic town of Appleby in Westmorland.

Suitcases! What do you think about them? Do you ever think about them? We all have them, but most of us hardly give them a seconds thought, but without them our lives would be much more difficult. Try going on holiday without one if you don’t believe me. And old ones like these have so much more character than the modern nylon bags you see everywhere in the world. It makes me wonder which exotic destinations these beauties have visited over the years...

Here is another of the animations I did recently at Blink Photo for Mitsubishi Uni-Ball pens. Again this was produced with Luke from Origami Penguin who did some fantastic After Effects work on it.

Over the coming weeks, many of you may be celebrating the festive season with a night out in Manchester. You may very well visit Canal Street, famous for its many restaurants and Gay bars, which runs alongside the Rochdale Nine Canal, so called because it has 9 locks used to navigate across Manchester.
Well the place may look very up-market now, but in 1984 I took this shot before all the redevelopment. Beautiful in its own way I think.

More commercial stuff this week. I shoot a lot of still life fashion, you know the kind of thing, you see it every day in magazines, brochures catalogues etc. clothing shot either flat or on mannequins on a plain background. Nothing wrong with that, but hardly inspiring photographically.
Occasionally however you get to do something a bit more creative. Here’s a shot I did recently for the fashion brand Jacamo.
Styling by Claire Lawlor.

I recently made a series of videos at Blink Photo for Topps Tiles. They featured Julia Kendell the interior designer, television presenter and writer best known for ITV’s “60 minute Makeover” and the BBC One programme “DIY SOS“. The videos show Julia giving very good advice on all aspects of home decoration.
Here is just one of them, but if you are in the process of decorating your own home you can watch them all, over on the Topps website by clicking here.
